GOLF: SCHUMACHER STORMS BACK TO CLAIM 14th TCC TITLE (2010-07-05)

NICHOLS — There is something to be said about experience. Adam Schumacher proved that here Sunday afternoon when he rallied from three strokes back to claim his 14th Tioga Country Club Men’s Golf Championship.
Schumacher, who grew up playing on the hilly course, shot a 2-under par 69 on the final day to overtake leader Dan Brown, who carded 73. Schumacher finished with a 214, one stroke better than Brown.

NICHOLS — Harriet Cary led from start to finish this weekend to run away with the title at the Tioga Country Club Women’s Golf Championship.
Cary shot 85 on Sunday and had a 2-day total of 171, 18 strokes ahead of runner-up Laura Catlin. Brenda Fay, who was in second after the first round with a 93, struggled on the final day and finished at 200.

NICHOLS — The annual Matt Cole Memorial Golf tournament will be held Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. here at the Tioga Country Club.
The banquet and awards presentation will be held following the tournament at the Waverly Fire Hall.
The tournament is a four-man captain & crew format. The cost is $60 per golfer, with the proceeds from the event going to The Children's Inn, Bethesda, Md. — the facility where Matt spent the final year of his life.
