WAVERLY — Waverly junior Elle NIttinger was named eighth-team all-state in Class B recently by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Nittinger’s teammate, sophomore Alex Tomasso received honorable mention recognition.
Nittinger, who scored her 1,000th career point this season, averaged 19.4 points per game and knocked down 38 3-pointers.
She also averaged 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 steals, and 2.7 assists per game this season, leading the Lady Wolverines to a 19-3 record and the Class B semifinals.
Tomasso averaged 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 deflections, and 3.2 steals per game. She also averaged 2.1 assists and a team-low 1.6 turnovers per game.
Waverly was eliminated in the postseason by eventual state champion Seton Catholic, who was led by Class B “Player of the Year” and George Washington signee Lexi Levy.
Elsewhere around Section IV, Norwich senior Meghan Komendarek was a second-team selection, while Susquehanna Valley junior Holly Manchester was an eighth-round pick, and Seton Catholic sophomore Julia Hauer was named to the ninth team.
Chenango Forks senior Alex Yoest earned 12th-team honors, and Seton Catholic junior Ava McCann was a 13th-team team selection.
Norwich senior Mackenzie Maynard was an honorable mention.
