SECTION IV BASEBALL: TIOGA OPENS CLASS C PLAYOFFS AT HOME FRIDAY — WAVERLY OPENS CLASS B POSTSEASON AT HOME MONDAY (2017-05-16)

THE VALLEY — Tioga opens the Section IV, Class C baseball playoffs Friday at home, while Waverly is at home Monday to open the Class B postseason.

CLASS C

Tioga (12-6) is the sixth seed and will host 11th seed Groton (6-7) Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the opening round of the Class C playoffs.

The winner will face third seed Trumansburg (12-5), which received a bye into the quarterfinals on Monday.

Thomas A. Edison (13-4) is the second seed, and will host the winner of the opening-round game between seventh-seed Moravia (7-6) and 10th seed Harpursville (9-6) in the quarterfinals on Monday.

On the other side of the bracket, Lansing (13-2) is the top seed, and will host the winner of Friday’s opening-round game between eighth-seed Bainbridge-Guilford (10-6) and ninth-seed Sidney (9-8) on Monday.

And, fourth-seed Unatego (12-7) hosts 13th seed Greene (7-9) Friday with the winner facing the winner of the game between fifth-seed Notre Dame (9-9) and 12th-seed Walton (8-9) on Monday.

CLASS B
Waverly (17-2) is the fourth seed and will square off with fifth seed Union Springs (14-3) in the Class B quarterfinals Monday in a re-match of the IAC Large School Championship game.

The winner will face the winner of Friday’s game between top seed Seton Catholic (13-3) and eighth seed Windsor (8-10) on May 24 in the semifinals.

Second seed Susquehanna Valley (13-3) will host Chenango Valley (7-10) on Friday, while third seed Oneonta (13-4) hosts sixth seed Chenango Forks (8-9). The winners will play May 24 in the semifinals.
