SAYRE — Senior Aubrey Allen had five hits, including three doubles and a triple, and drove in four runs to power Athens to a 14-3 win over Sayre here Wednesday afternoon in non-league NTL softball action.

The Lady Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Emma Adams led off the game with a single, and scored on a one-out RBI double by Allen. With two outs, Mackenzie Strobridge stroked an RBI single to cap the rally.

Sayre tied the game in the bottom of the first inning. Camry Brown led off the first inning with a single, moved to second a walk to Kate Cron, and to third on a single by Domi Woodruff.

Kaitlynn McCarter then hit a sharp grounder, but Allen, at shortstop, fielded it cleanly and fired home to Strobridge for the force out.

After an infield pop out, Alia Post hit a infield grounder that was bobbled allowing Post to reach and a run to score. Annaleise Vanderpool then worked a walk to force home a run and tie the score.

Haley Barry led off the second inning with a double for Athens and Lauren Galasso followed with an infield single. A Sayre error allowed Barry to score, and Allen plated a pair of runs with a two-RBI single to make it 5-2.

Athens extended its leads to 6-2 in the fourth inning on a two-out triple by Allen and an RBI single by Mimi Martin.

The Lady Redskins left the bases loaded for the second time in the game in the fourth inning after singles by Makayla Muller and Brown, and a walk to McCarter.

The Lady Wildcats pushed its lead to 9-2 in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run double by Allen and an RBI single by Martin.

Allen belted another two-run double in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 11-1, then Strobridge followed with an RBI single, Morgan Ferguson smacked an RBI double, and Alexis Harford capped the rally with an RBI single to make it 14-2.

Vanderpool provided with an RBI single for Sayre in the bottom of the seventh.

Adams had three hits, including a double, and scored four runs for the Lady Wildcats, while Barry had three hits, including a double, and scored a run, Martin and Strobridge each had two hits and two RBI.

Ferguson doubled and singled, scored a run, and drove in a run for the Lady Wildcats, while Reagan Lynch singled and scored twice, Harford singled and drove in a run, and Galasso singled.

Adams earned the win in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Wildcats. She allowed three runs — two earned — on 10 hits, while striking out four and walking five.

Woodruff had two hits and a run scored, and Brown singled twice to lead Sayre’s 10-hit attack, while Vanderpool single and had two RBI , and Post singled and knocked in a run.

Cron singled and scored a run for Sayre, while McCarter, Reaghan Zurn, and Mullen each added a single.

Athens, now 8-8, returns to action Friday at Wyalusing, while Sayre, now 1-15, hosts NEB Thursday.
