WILLIAMSPORT — Athens senior Kalen Keathley, and freshman Damian Hudson both advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 100- and 200-meter dashes here Thursday at Day 1 of the District 4, Class AAA Track & Field Championships at Williamsport High School.
Juniors Sean Waltman and Evan Menard each recorded top-eight finishes to earn points for the Wildcats, while Sayre’s best finish on the day in the Class AA Championships was a ninth-place finish.
Keathley posted the fastest time in the 100-meter semifinals at 11.15 seconds and will be the top seed in Saturday’s finals. Hudson also qualified for the finals with the sixth-fastest time of 11.57 seconds, while sophomore Jon Dailey was 10th at 11.83 seconds and missed the cut.
Keathley also posted the fastest time in the 200-meter dash semifinals at 22.55 seconds, and Hudson also qualified for the finals with a fourth-place finish in 23.43 seconds. Junior Adam Dieg finished 11th in 24.85 seconds.
Waltman finished sixth in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10-feet, 9-inches, while Menard was eighth at 10-feet, 3-inches. Junior Braden Priester tied for 11th at 9-feet, 3-inches.
Senior Allen Lane finished ninth in the shot put with a heave of 40-feet, 9-inches, while senior Matt Faria was 13th at 38-feet, and senior Jovanni Volmar was 15th at 35-feet, 3 1/2-inches.
Priester finished 10th in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 17.09, and Waltman was 12th at 17.97 seconds.
Junior Nate Aquilio finished 10th in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 11:09.11, and freshman T.J. Toscano was 16th in 11:56.93.
Dieg finished 13th in the triple jump at 36-feet, 6-inches, and junior Matteo Baglini was 14th at 36-feet, 3 3/4-inches.
The Redskins had five athletes in action Thursday and did not register a top-eight finish to score a point.
Senior Kris Platt finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 113-feet, 10-inches.
Senior Tyler Belles finished 10th in the shot put with a heave of 40-feet, 5-inches, and senior Brandon Paris was 23rd at 36-feet, 2-inches.
Junior Garrett Osman finished 24th in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.57 seconds. He was also 24th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.46 seconds.
Action begins Saturday at 9 a.m.
