WAVERLY — The Blauvelt Funeral Home / Waverly Pharmacy Dodgers built an 11-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings en route to a, 12-2, four-inning win over S & J General Contractors / Porter's Concrete Yankees here Wednesday evening in Waverly Little League Majors Division baseball action.
The Dodgers took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a Yankee error that allowed the first two runs to score, and a dropped third strike than allowed the final run to cross the plate.
Jay Pipher stroked a two-run single in the top of the second to give the Dodgers a 5-0 lead. Pipher later scored on a passed ball to make it 6-0.
The Dodgers scored five runs in the top of the third inning to take an 11-0 lead.
Pipher singled, scored a run, and had two RBI, and Jake VanHouten doubled and scored three runs to lead the Dodgers’ four-hit attack.
Zach Vanderpool singled and scored two runs in the win, while Nick Whipple added a single, Charlie Larrabee scored three runs, and Joey VanAllen, Cole Stanton, and Nolan Beeman each crossed the plate once.
VanHouten earned the win for the Dodgers, He allowed two unearned runs on one hit, while striking out five and walking four. Brady Blauvelt pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and striking out the side.
Landon McCarty singled twice and scored a run to account for the Yankees’ only two hits, while Nehemiah Anthony scored a run, and Gage Tedesco had an RBI.
The Dodgers improve to 5-3, while the Yankees fall to 4-4.
