WAVERLY / ATHENS — Athens pounded out 20 hits — including 18 singles — in a 16-7 win over Waverly in a game delayed by rain several times and eventually shifted from the Waverly field to the Athens field after 2 1/2 innings because of the field conditions.

Aaron Berry pounded out four hits, scored four runs and drove in three runs to lead Athens' offensive outburst, while Parker May had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Austin Lister led Athens with five RBI on two hits, including a double, while Ryan Segar had two hits and scored two runs, Same Perri had two hits and an RBI, Zach Sheppeck had two hits and two RBI and Shane Colegrove had two hits.

Matt Collins added a hit, an RBI and three runs scored, Greg Beck singled and drove in a run, and Andrew Bennett had a double and three RBI.

Lister and Barry pitched two innings apiece, with Lister allowing three runs on two hits and two walks, while striking out three and Barry allowing one run on one walk. Matt Collins added a scoreless inning of relief, striking out two and walking one, while Perri allowed three runs in one inning without giving up a walk or a hit, striking out one.

Mason Salsman had two hits and scored twice and Peyton Miller had two hits to lead Waverly's six-hit attack.

Parker Hendershot had one hit, walked twice, scored a pair of runs and had an RBI, and Jacob Goble had a hit and two RBI.
