DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): SAYRE RALLIES IN FINAL AT-BAT TO EDGE NEBALL, 12-11 (4 PHOTOS) (2017-06-29)

ROME, Pa. Sayre scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally for a 12-11 win over NEBall here Thursday evening in Mid-East pool play in the District 15 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.

Sayre jumped ahead 3-0 in the top of the first inning, and led 6-2 after 1 1/2 innings, but NEBall erupted for seven runs in the home half of the third inning to take a 9-6 lead.

NEB stretched its lead to 11-7 after five innings, but Sayre took advantage of four walks and a couple of wild pitches to score five runs for a 12-11 lead. The only hit of the inning was a single by Brendan Cooke, and Karter Green had the only RBI with a sacrifice fly.

NEBall had runners on second and third in the home half of the sixth inning, but Sayre pitcher Ronin Ault notched a pair of strikeouts to end the game.

Ethan Gorsline belted a pair of doubles and scored three runs, and Ault doubled and singled, scored three runs, and drove in a run to lead Sayre at the plate, while Green doubled and singled, scored one run, and had two RBI.

Braylon Slater doubled and scored a run in the win, while Logan Zingeser singled and scored two runs, Brendan Cooke singled and scored a run, and Tim George scored one run.

Sayre returns to action July 1 in the opening round of the Joe Shaw Memorial Tournament.
