ATHENS — Athens erupted for 13 runs in the top of the fourth inning to erase an early seven-run deficit en route to an 18-7 four-inning win over Tioga-Lawrenceville here Sunday evening in pool play action of the District 15 Little League 9-11 baseball playoffs.
Tioga-Lawrenceville scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, then plated five more in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead.
Aidan Garcia and Tyler Roe led off the top of the third inning with back-to-back triples to spark a five-run rally that also featured a single by Kaiden Hyjek, and a triple by Jack Cheresnowsky.
Garcia led off the fourth inning with a single, and hit a triple later in the rally, and Kaiden Rowe also singled and tripled in the 13-run outburst.
Garcia had three hits, including a pair of triples and scored three runs, and Rowe tripled and singled and scored two runs to lead Athens at the plate, while Hyjek singled twice and scored three runs, and Cheresnowsky tripled and singled.
Roe and Connor Mosher each tripled and scored three runs in the win, and Kolson Keathley scored three runs.
Athens, now 2-0 in pool play, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Troy-2, which is 0-2 in pool play.
