WESTMINSTER, Colo. — The Conklin Raiders 18U Gold travel softball team went 3-4 recently here in the Super 48 Division of the Colorado Sparkler & Fireworks Fastpitch Tournament at Triple Crown Sports Complex.
Raiders Gold is comprised of many of the top talents in the region, including Athens’ Emma Adams, Waverly’s Shailei Kraft and Wendi Hammond, and Tioga’s Mariah Culver.
The Colorado Sparkler Tournament featured many of the Top 25 ranked teams in the nation.
Culver pitched in five of the seven games. In her first outing of the week, she allowed four earned runs without recording an out. After that, she allowed just two runs on 16 hits in 14 innings, while striking out 11 and walking three.
Culver also earned a pair of wins, including the Gold’s 6-2 win over Texas Impact Gold in which she allowed just one earned run on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings, while striking out seven and walking none.
Culver was also 1-for-5 at the plate.
Kraft hit .400 for the week, with eight hits in 20 at-bats. She had two doubles, and scored five runs.
Adams hit .455 with five hits in 11 at-bats. She scored five runs, had one RBI, and one double.
Hammond was 1-for-8 at the plate. She also pitched in two games, allowing one earned run and striking out one in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Raiders Gold, now 11-7-1 on the season, returns to action this weekend at the Inferno Invitational in Depew, N.Y.
