THE VALLEY - A pair of afternoon matinees on the hardwoods - Sayre girls and Athens boys - highlight a Saturday that also has all four wrestling teams in out-of-town tournaments.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Loyalsock (11-1) at Athens (8-1), 1 p.m. JV start:
The Wildcats are coming off a 62-47 win over NEB, while the Lancers, on the heels of a 72-42 win over Central Columbia Tuesday, rolled over Midd-West 88-32 Friday night.

Loyalsock currently sits ahead of the Class AAA power-points playoff standings, while Athens is third in Class AAAA - behind Danville and Montourscvlle.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
North Penn-Mansfield (8-2) at Sayre (7-4), 1:30 p.m. (Varsity only):
The Lady Redskins are coming off a hard-fought 31-27 win over Athens Thursday night, while the Lady Tigers rolled over Williamson, 56-19.

Sayre and NP-Mansfield are tied atop the NTL Small School standings.

Athens (5-5) at Wellsboro (5-6), 1 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wildcats dropped a 31-27 decision to Sayre Thursday night, while the Lady Green Hornets topped Cowanesque Valley, 47-29.

Wellsboro, which is 0-5 in non-league plays, sits atop the Large School standings - 1/2-game ahead of Towanda, and 1 1/2-games ahead of Athens.

WRESTLING
Athens, Waverly at Iron Hammer Tournament, 10 a.m @ Danville H.S.:
Athens and Waverly will be among the eight-team field at the Danville tournament, which also included North Penn and Williamson from the NTL, Dryden from the IAC, Class AAA Allentown Dieruff and Pleasant Valley from District 11, as well as host Danville.

Tioga, Sayre at Bradshaw Tournament, 9 a.m. @ Canandaigua H.S.: It's Day 2 of the Bradshaw Tournament, and Tioga has 10 wrestlers alive in the quarterfinals and five more in wrestlebacks.

Sayre has three in the quarterfinals, and four alive in wrestlebacks.

Tioga starts the day in second place in the team standings just 3 1/2 points behind Webster-Thomas.

Day 2 action begins this morning at 9 a.m.
