WILDCATS FINISH SECOND IN TEAM STANDINGS

DANVILLE - Athens crowned four champions and finished second in the team standings, while Waverly had two wrestler reach the top of the podium and was fourth as a team here Saturday at the Iron Hammer Invitational.

Danville won the team title with 230.5 points, while Athens tallied 174 points, and third-place Dryden had 154 points. Fourth-place Pleasant Valley had 146.5 points, and Waverly had 126 points.

Senior David Galasso, sophomore Ben Pernaselli, and freshmen Gavin Bradley and Karter Rude each brought home first-place medals for the Wildcats, while junior Ethan Stotler and Garrett Skeens finished first for the Wolverines

Junior Keegan Braund was a runner-up for Athens and junior Alex West and freshman Kaden Setzer each finished third in his weight class, while junior Trent Skeens and sophomore Austin Kimble each recorded third-place finishes for Waverly.

At 106 pounds,
Bradley pinned Waverly's Zach Reeves in 1:13 in the quarterfinals, then pinned North Penn-Liberty's Coy Wagner in 38 seconds in the semifinals.

Bradley finished off his title run with a 12-5 decision over Danville's Landon Hppper in the championship match.

Reeves was 0-2 on the day.

At 113 pounds, Kaden Setzer forged an 11-3 major decision over Pleasant Valley's Logan Segada in the quarterfinals, but fell via fall to top seed Andrew Johnson of Danville in 2:53 in the semifinals.

Setzer bounced back in the consolation semifinals with a pin of Waverly freshman Dalton Manuel in 2:11, then pinned NP-Liberty's Roger Learn in 4:08 in the third-place match.

Manuel, who lost via fall in the quarterfinals, bounced back in the consolation round-of-4 with a pin of Chelsea Hungerford in 31 seconds.

Manuel lost via fall to Segada in the fifth-place match, and finished sixth in the weight class.

At 120 pounds,
Garrett Skeens pinned his way through the bracket, decking Hannah Hunter in 54 seconds in the quarterfinals.

Skeens flattened NP-Liberty's Patriot June in 1:05 in the semifinals, then pinned Brayden Sarviss in 3:58 in the title match.

At 126 pounds, Rude pinned Dryden's R.J. Belanger in 1:27 in the semifinals, then forged an 8-2 decision over Danville's Logan Walter in the finals.

Also at 126 pounds,
Waverly junior Rylan LaForest dropped a 5-1 decision to Walter in the semifinals, then lost a 7-2 decision to Pleasant Valley's Trevor Kibler in the consolation semifinals.

Laforest closed out his day with a pin of Dieruff's Austin Marte in 4:21 in the fifth-place match.

At 132 pounds,
Athens freshman and Waverly junior Lexy Streeter each lost their first two matches to fall into the fifth-place match, which Forbes won via fall in 2:38.

At 138 pounds,
Waverly senior Cody Chandler and Athens freshman Troy Jennings each lost their quarter-final matches.

Jennings won his round-of-4 wrestleback match via a 3-1 decision over NP-Liberty's Gavin Sexier, while Chandler received a bye into the consolation semifinals.

In the consi semis, Chandler decked Danville's Jared Dewald in 2:41 to advance to the third-place match, while Jennings dropped a 14-2 major decision to Pleasant Valley's Dillon Anderson.

Anderson also forged a 14-2 major decision win over Chandler in the third-place match, while Jennings lost via fall to Dewald in the fifth-place match.

At 145 pounds, Stotler decked Danville's Kaiden Kurzawa in 1:21 in the semifinals, then pinned a familiar opponent in Dryden's Matt McKewin in 5:07 in the finals. Stotler is 3-0 against McKewin this season.

Also at 145 pounds,
Athens sophomore Zach Stafursky lost via fall to Kurzawa in the quarterfinals, then lost via fall to Pleasant Valley's Chris Tartamella in the consolation semifinals.

At 152 pounds, Austin Kimble dropped a wild 13-10 decision to Michael Colon of Dieruff in the quarterfinals, then received medial forfeits from James Syracuse of Pleasant Valley in the consolation semifinals, and Colon in the third-place match.

At 160 pounds,
Athens junior Alex West forged a 14-5 decision over Waverly sophomore Trevor Meyers, but proceeded to drop a 5-0 decision to Alex Womack of Pleasant Valley in he semifinals.

West bounced back to beat Williamson's Brock Robinson 12-4 in the consolation semifinals, then forged a 12-4 major decision over Dryden's Vincent Scott in the third-place match.

Meyers dropped a 10-4 decision to Scott in the consolation semifinals, but bounced back with a pin of Robinson in 3:59 in the fifth-place match.

At 170 pounds,
Galasso pinned Pleasant Valley's Gavin Dorn in 2:23 in the finals, then decked Isaac Kassis of Dieruff in 2:55 in the title match.

Waverly freshman Austin Kimble was 0-3 on the day.

At 182 pounds,
Athens junior Dylan Comstock dropped his first two bouts of the day, but forged a 10-3 decision over Dryden's Wes Floor in the fifth-place match.

At 195 pounds,
Athens freshman Tyler Coy dropped his quarter-final match, but bounced back with a pin of Dryden's Nate Hollenbeck in 4:28 to advance to the consolation semifinals, where he lost via fall to Pleasant Valley's Anthony Mazzella.

In the fifth-place match, Coy scored a 19-8 major decision over Williamson's Mikey Sipps.

At 220 pounds,
Pernaselli Decked NP-Liberty's Logan Makely in 1:43 in the semifinals, then pinned Williamson's Kaden Sottaiano in 3:06 in the title match.

Also at 220,
Trent Skeens decked Danville's Santiago Bermudez in 17 seconds in the quarterfinals, but lost via fall to Sottaiano in the semifinals.

Trent Skeens received a medical forfeit in the consolation semifinals, then pinned Makely in 1:55 in the third-place match.

At 285 pounds, Braund pinned Danville's Hugh Vastine in 2:45 in the semifinals, but dropped a hard-fought 3-1 decision to Karam Kaafik of Dieruff in the finals.

Also at 285,
Waverly sophomore Hunter Rando lost his quarter-final match, but bounced back with a 6-1 win over Pleasant Valley's Braden Berlew.

After losing via fall to Vastine in the consolation semifinals, Rando lost a 5-4 decision to Dylan Roncone of Williamson in the fifth-place match.
