Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - There are a number of big events on the docket tonight, headlined by Tioga at the Section IV Duals with a berth to the New York State Duals on the line.

In other action, the Waverly girls host Newark Valley in a key Large School match-up, and the Athens wrestlers invade Towanda.

WRESTLING
Tioga at Section IV, Section 2 Duals, 5 p.m.:
The Tigers are the top seed at 4-0, while Windsor is the second seed at 10-0.

Third-seed Norwich (8-5) will square off with sixth-seed Owego (11-1) in one quarter-final match-up, with the winner slated to take on Windsor. Fourth-seed BGAH (7-7) faces fifth-seed Walton-Delhi (16-2) in the other quarterfinal, with the winner Taking on Tioga.

Tioga owns a 52-21 regular-season win over BGAH, which lost 39-36 to Windsor and 43-36 to Norwich. Windsor topped Norwich 38-32, and BGAH topped Walton-Delhi 45-27.

Owego did not wrestle any of the other five teams.

Athens (6-3) at Towanda (10-5), 7 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 48-21 win over Canton Wednesday, while the Black Knights beat Waverly, 47-33.

North Penn (3-7) at Sayre (1-11), 6 p.m.:
Williamson (0-11) at Sayre (1-11), 7:30 p.m.:
The Redskins are coming off a 57-18 loss to Sullivan County on Jan. 3, while North Penn dropped a 33-31 decision to Canton Jan. 8,  and the Warriors lost 57-18 to Wyalusing on Friday

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Newark Valley (11-2) at Waverly (11-0), 5:30 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines rolled to a 78-26 rout of Dryden Friday night,vwhile the Lady Cardinals topped Whitney Point, 48-30.

In their first meeting, Waverly pulled out a 49-46 win at Newark Valley.

Candor (3-8) at Tioga (3-9), 6 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Tigers rolled to a 60-36 win over Union Springs Friday night, the Lady Indians dropped a 45-31 decision to Southern Cayuga.

In their first meeting, Candor rolled to a 55-28 win at Tioga.

Williamson (1-8) at Athens (6-5), 6 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 37-34 win over Wellsboro Saturday, while Williamson dropped a 42-18 decision to Wyalusing.

Sayre at Cowanesque Valley, 7:30 p.m. (varsity only): The Lady Redskins are coming off a 51-44 win over North Penn-Mansfield, while the Lady Indians topped Canton, 35-29.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Waverly (5-6, 3-4) at Newark Valley (4-9, 2-5), 5:30 p.m. JV start:
The Wolverines are coming off a 57-48 loss at Dryden Friday, while the Cardinals dropped a 72-41 decision to Whitney Point.

In their first meeting, Waverly edged Newark Valley, 63-57, at Waverly.

Tioga (6-7, 3-5) at Candor (7-7, 3-4), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Tigers are coming off a 60-51 loss at Union Springs, while the Indians topped Southern Cayuga, 63-50.

In their first meeting, Candor pulled out a 53-47 win at Tioga.

BOYS & GIRLS SWIMMING
Athens (Mount Carmel) at Williamsport, 4:30 p.m.:

BOYS BOWLING
Waverly (28-12) at Groton (33-7), 4 p.m.:
The Wolverines are tied for second place with Union Springs / Port Byron in the IAC Large School Division. They trail Watkins Glen by 1 game in the loss column.

Groton is in second place in the Small School Division, just one game behind front-running Tioga.

Waverly averages 823 pins per game, while Groton averages 785.

Lansing (11-33) at Tioga (38-6), 3:30 p.m.: The Tigers lead the Small School Division over Groton by 1 game, while Lansing is in the Large School cellar.

Tioga averaged a league-best 898 average, while Lansing averages 723.

GIRLS BOWLING
Waverly (35.5-4.5) at Groton (18-22), 4 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are in second place in the Large School, four games behind Union Springs / Port Byron, while Groton is in third in the Small School, a distant 15 games behind Candor.

Waverly averages a league-high 779 pins, while Groton averages 435.

Lansing (19.5-24.5) at Tioga (15-29), 3:30 p.m.: Lansing is in fifth place in the Large School, while Tioga is in fourth place in the Small School race.

The Lady Tigers average 615 pins, and the Lady Bobcats average 554 pins.
