NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: SAYRE SCORES FIRST 25 POINTS IN 51-16 WIN OVER WILLIAMSON (2019-01-15)

SAYRE - Sayre scored the first 25 points of the game, and cruised to a 51-16 win over Williamson here Monday night in NTL junior varsity boys basketball action.

Matt Lane opened the scoring with a 3-pointer, then scored off a feed from Zach Belles to make it 5-0.

Lane, Bellis, and Donnie Abrams each scored a pair of buckets to extend the junior Redskin lead to 17-0 with 55 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Dom Fabbri and Bellis scored back-to-back buckets to give Sayre a 21-0 lead after the first eight minutes.

Ja Huang, off a feed from Dylan Watkins, scored the first bucket of the second quarter to make it 23-0, and Belles, off a feed from Fabbri, capped the rally with 6 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half.

Williamson finally got on the board with a free throw with 6 minutes remaining in the half, then David Northrup put Sayre up 27-1, and Huang knocked down a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 30-1.

Sayre extended its lead to 37-3 on a bucket by Northrup late in the first half for its biggest lead of the game, until Donovan Wynn canned a free throw and knocked down a jumper late in the game to make it 51-14.

Lane led a balanced Sayre offense with nine points and three assists, while Belles and Northrup each had eight points, three rebounds, and three steals, and Huang had eight points and three boards.

Wynn had seven points in the win, Abrams had four points and four steals, and Watkins had five assists and three steals.

Sayre registered 21 steals in the contest.

Sayre hosts Cowanesque Valley Wednesday night.
