NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: ATHENS ROLLS OVER WILLIAMSON, 39-16 (2019-01-15)

TIOGA JUNCTION - Athens outscored Williamson 27-7 over the middle two quarters to post a 39-16 win here Tuesday night in NTL girls basketball action.

Freshman Caydence Macik scored seven points in the first quarter, including an old-fashioned three-point play, to help Athens to a 9-6 lead after the first eight minutes.

The Lady Wildcats kept Williamson off the scoreboard in the second quarter, and sophomore Kayleigh Miller scored six points to fuel a 10-0 run that gave them a 19-6 lead at the half.

Miller canned a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter and scored eight points as part of a 17-7 run that gave the Lady Wildcats a 36-13 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Miller led Athens with 16 points, four rebounds, and four steals, while Macik added nine points, 10 rebounds and one blocked shot, and Kasidy Peterson chipped in with five points.

Senior Sophie Adams grabbed seven boards for the Lady Wildcats, and sophomore Megan Collins had three rebounds and three assists.

Emylee Yusko led Williamson with 11 points.

Athens, now 7-5, returns to action Wednesday at Lansing.
