IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY RIDES THIRD-QUARTER BLITZ TO 51-30 WIN OVER WAVERLY (2019-01-16)

WAVERLY- Newark Valley used a 21-2 third-quarter blitz to rally for a 51-30 runaway win over Waverly here Tuesday night in IAC South Large School Division girls basketball action.

Olivia Nittinger scored eight points in the first half, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Hali Jenner added four points.

Waverly led 11-7 after the first eight minutes, but NV closed the gap to two points, at 17-15, at the half. NV made just 1 of 6 free-throw attempts in the second quarter.

Taylor Benjamin scored eight minutes in the third quarter, and Rachael Walker added seven points, including a 3-pointer, to fuel a 21-2 run that pushed the junior Lady Cardinals into a 36-19 lead.

Allison Walker scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to help heal the win.

Nittinger led Waverly with 10 points, while Peyton Shaw scored seven, and Lourden Benjamin and Jenner chipped in with four points apiece.

Allison Walker led Newark Valley with 18 points, while Taylor Benjamin had 13 points, Garner and Rachael Walker added seven points apiece, and Jasmine Graham chipped in with six points.
