THE VALLEY - Girls basketball takes center stage Thursday night as Sayre and unbeaten Waverly hosts league rivals. The unbeaten Waverly boys swim team, and the Tioga bowlers are also at home.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Whitney Point (8-5) at Waverly (12-0), 5:30 p.m. JV start:
The South's Large School-leading Lady Wolverines are coming off a 58-35 win over Newark Valley, while the Lady Golden Eagles picked up a win over Trumansburg.

Whitney Point dropped a 48-30 decision at Newark Valley Friday.

North Penn-Liberty (1-11) at Sayre (9-4), 6:30 p.m. (varsity only):
The Lady Redskins are coming off a 64-47 win at Cowanesque Valley Tuesday, while the Lady Mountaineers dropped a 42-28 decision at home to Canton.

WRESTLING
Athens (7-3) at North Penn-Liberty, 7:15 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off a 39-33 win over Towanda Tuesday, while North Penn-Liberty topped Sayre, 42-27.

Athens is led by senior David Galasso (19-3), junior Keegan Braund (18-5), freshman Gavin Bradley (17-5), and freshman Karter Rude (14-6).

Dryden (8-4 overall, 1-1 IAC) at Tioga (6-0, 2-0), 7 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off victories over BGAH (41-30) and Windsor (43-25) Tuesday to win the Section IV, Division 2 Duals, while the Purple Lions knocked off Newark Valley, 44-25.

Dryden junior Robert Brotherton (20-4) is likely to match up against Tioga senior John Worthing (26-2) at 138 pounds, while Dryden sophomore Matt McKewin Bates (16-3) will likely face Tioga senior Austin Lamb (30-1) at 145 pounds.

Dryden junior Braedon Libbey (19-8) could match up against Tioga freshman Emmett Wood (15-4) at 152 pounds, and Dryden junior Sam Dow (20-5) could match up against junior Brady Worthing (24-3) at 132 pounds in some of the top pairings of the evening.

BOYS SWIMMING
Lansing (2-6) at Waverly (11-0), 4:30 p.m.:
The unbeaten Wolverines are coming off a 133-44 win over Dryden Wednesday, while the Bobcats dropped a 101-76 decision at Watkins Glen.

In their first meeting, Waverly won 11 of 12 events to post a 123-56 win.

BOYS & GIRLS SWIMMING
Sayre (Danville) at Towanda, 4:30 p.m.

BOYS BOWLING
Waverly (31-13) at Newark Valley (32-16), 4 p.m.:
The Wolverines trail Watkins Glen by 2 games in the loss column, while the Cardinals are 5 games back.

Waverly averages 825 pins per game, and Newark Valley averages 768 pins.

O-M (12-36) at Tioga (45-7), 3:30 p.m.: The Tigers have the best record (45-7) and the highest average in the IAC, and lead the Small School Division by 6 games over Groton. O-M trails Tioga by 29 games in the loss column.

Tioga averages 910 pins, while O-M averages 592 pins.

GIRLS BOWLING
Waverly (39.5-4.5) at Newark Valley (7-41), 4 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are in second place in the Large School Division, 4 games off the pace of front-running Union Springs / Port Byron, while the Lady Cardinals are in the division cellar.

Waverly is averaging an IAC-high 779 pins per game, while NV averages 540 pins per game.

O-M (30-18) at Tioga (21-31), 3:30 p.m.: The Lady Indians are in second place in the Small School title race, 7 games behind front-running Candor, while the Lady Tigers are in fourth place and climbing toward .500.

O-M averages 665 pins per game, and Tioga averages 615 pins per game.
