NTL JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: ATHENS FINISHES SEASON WITH 28-18 WIN OVER TROY (2019-02-14)

ATHENS - Athens took an early lead, and pulled away en route to a 28-18 win over Troy here Wednesday evening in NTL Large School Division junior varsity girls basketball action.

Kassidy Peterson scored four points in the first quarter, and Emily Pennison knocked down a 3-pointer to help Athens to a 9-5 lead after the first eight minutes.

Charlsey Walters scored four points in the second quarter, while Pennison canned another 3-pointer, and Olivia Bartlow added an old-fashioned three-point play to fuel a 10-3 run that pushed the junior  Lady Wildcats' lead to 19-8 at the half.

Bartlow scored four points in the third quarter, and Charelle Jandoc drained a 3-pointer as Athens pushed its lead to 28-14 entering the final eight minutes.

Athens was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, but limited Troy to just four points to preserve the win.

Bartlow led Athens with nine points, four rebounds, and four blocked shots, while Pennison scored eight points, Peterson added four points, three rebounds and three steals, and Walters chipped in with four points.

Jandoc grabbed five boards in the win, and Hannah Blackman dished out three assists.

Athens finishes the season at 15-7.
