NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: SAYRE CRUISES TO 49-33 WIN IN SEASON FINALE (2019-02-15)

MONTGOMERY - Sayre used an early 8-0 run to take the lead, and never relinquished it in a 49-33 season-ending win over Montgomery here Thursday night in non-league junior varsity boys basketball action.

Brayden Horton scored on Sayre's first possession of the game, but Montgomery answered with a bucket on its first possession to tie the game at 2-2.

Sayre's other four starters scored two points apiece in an 8-0 spurt to help Sayre to an early 10-2 lead.

With Sayre up 14-6 early in the second quarter, Donnie Abrams knocked down a jumper to trigger an 11-0 run that gave the junior Redskins a 25-6 lead with 3 1/2 minutes left in the first half. Abrams scored five points in the run, and David Northrup added four.

Sayre maintained its lead into the latter stages of the third quarter when Horton scored in transition, and Abrams followed with a 3-pointer to give Sayre a 41-18 lead.

With 25 seconds left in the third quarter, Abrams, off a feed from Northrop, scored to give the Redskins a 45-20 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Abrams led Sayre with 16 points, while Northrup had seven points and five boards, and Young and Fabbri added six points and four rebounds apiece.

Horton had four points and five assists for Sayre, and Belles chipped in with four points.
