THE WEEK AHEAD: NEW YORK STATE, DISTRICT 4 WRESTLING CAP BUSY WEEK OF POSTSEASON ACTION (2019-02-17)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - The New York State Division II wrestling championships, and the District 4, Class AA wrestling championships cap a busy week of postseason action, which also includes all five Valley teams that qualified for the postseason in action.

There are 10 postseason events on the schedule this week, including three on Friday and three on Saturday.

The following are all of the postseason events on the docket this week:

MONDAY (0)

There are no games scheduled on Monday as the first full week of the postseason begins.

TUESDAY  (1)

•  The Sayre girls host NTL Small School foe Canton in the quarterfinals of the District 4, Class AA basketball playoffs.

WEDNESDAY (1)
•  The Tioga boys open the Section IV, Class C basketball playoffs on the road at Watkins Glen.

THURSDAY (2)
• The Waverly girls open the Section IV, Class B basketball playoffs at home against Susquehanna Valley.

•  The Athens girls open the District 4, Class AAAA basketball playoffs on the road at Jersey Shore.

FRIDAY (3)
•  Four Tioga wrestlers - seniors John Worthing, Austin Lamb, and Steven Taylor, and junior Brady Worthing - are in action at Day 1 of the New York State Division II wrestling champions.  

•  Athens sends seven wrestlers, including retuning state qualifier David Galasso, into action at Day 1 of the District 4, Class AA wrestling championships, while Sayre sends just one - freshman Jacob Bennett.

•  The Athens boys open the District 4, Class AAAA basketball playoffs on the road at Mifflinburg.

SATURDAY (3)
•  The New York State Division II wrestling championships, at the Times-Union Center in Albany, conclude.

•  The District 4 wrestling championships, at Williamsport High School, draw to a close.

•  Waverly's indoor track & field athletes vie for a berth at the New York State Championships at the Section IV State Qualifier at Cornell University.
