THE VALLEY - Athens senior David Galasso, and freshman Gavin Bradley wrestle for medals this afternoon at the PIAA, Class AA Wrestling Championships, while Tioga sophomore Kolton Pond vies for state hardware of his own at the New York State Bowling Championships.

WRESTLING
PIAA, Class AA Championships, 2 p.m. @ Giant Center, Hershey:
Galasso, now 38-6, will square off with Penn Cambria's Derek Brown (37-5) for third place this afternoon.

Brown was knocked into wrestlebacks by McGuffey's Chrisitan Clutter via a 3-2 decision in th semifinals. Clutter led Galasso 4-0 before pinning him at 2:35 in the quarterfinals.

Brown also beat Littlestown's Carl Harris 10-3 in the quarterfinals, while Galasso scored a pin of Harris in 1:48 in wrestlebacks.

Bradley, now 34-11, will face sophomore Kai Burkett (36-6) of Chestnut Ridge in the fifth-place match this afternoon.

Bradley's two losses at Hershey are to unbeaten finalist Levi Haines (40-0) of Biglerville in the quarterfinals, and Joey Fischer (39-1) of South Park in the consolation semifinals.

Burkett beat Lewisburg's Kaiden Wagner via fall in 3:37 in the opening round, and edged Matt Vulakh of Pope John Paul II 4-2 in the quarterfinals. Bradley blanked Vulakh 4-0 in wrestlebacks.

BOWLING
New York State Championships, 2 p.m. @ Strike 'N Spare Lanes, Syracuse:
Pond is part of the Section IV all-star team and will compete in the "Composite" Tournament this afternoon.

He is joined by Newark Valley's Kyle Pratt, Union Springs / Port Byron's Mitch Hamel, Hancock's Anton Leonard, Vestal's Nick Lapicola, and M-E's Austin Baker. Owego's Qwinten Adams is the alternate.

Each bowler will roll two three-game sets, with team and individual hardware up for grabs.
