NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: SAYRE'S LANE, SPARDUTI EARN TOP LEAGUE HONORS - ATHENS, SAYRE WELL-REPRESENTED ON DIVISIONAL ALL-STAR TEAMS (2019-03-24)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - Sayre senior Camry Lane was named the "Offensive Player of the Year," and Sayre coach Eileen Sparduti and her staff were honored as "Coaching Staff of the Year" in recent voting by the NTL girls basketball coaches.

Wellsboro's Emma Poirer was voted the league's "Player of the Year," while Wellsboro's Catherine Brought was named the "Defensive Player of the Year," and Canton's Courtney Weisskopf was tabbed the "Sixth Player of the Year."

A skilled scorer, Lane did it all for the Lady Redskins, including much-improved play on the defensive end, helping her team to a 20-8 record.

She averaged 16.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 steals, and 2.2 assists per game. Lane, who also joined the 1,000-point club this season, had 25 3-pointers, and 1.6 deflections per game.

Sparduti directed the Lady Redskins to their fourth consecutive division title,  runner-up performances in the NTL Showdown, and the District 4, Class AA playoffs. Sayre also made its third trip to the PIAA playoffs in Sparduti's six years on the sidelines.

LARGE SCHOOL
First Team
Kayleigh Miller, sophomore, Athens:
Miller displayed an improved all-around game in her second varsity campaign. She averaged 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 2.4 assists per game. She also knocked down 43 3-pointers, and shot 70 percent from the free-throw line.

Caydence Macik, freshman, Athens: A fierce rebounder and talented shot-blocker, Macik averaged 8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 blocked shots and 1.8 steals per game.

The remainder of the first team is: Emily Champluvier and Callie Bennett, Wyalusing; Hannah Chandler and Cearra McLinko, Towanda.

Second Team
Haley Barry, junior, Athens:
A gifted all-around athlete, Barry averaged 7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.

The remainder of the second team is: Roxanne Kingsley, Troy, Madison Putnam, Wyalusing; Jenna Boyce, Wellsboro; Ella Durst, Williamson, and Erin Barrett, Towanda.

SMALL SCHOOL
First Team
Stephanie Klovekorn, senior, Sayre:
A top-notch defender, Klovekorn averaged 11.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 2.2 assists per game. She also had 12 3-pointers and 1.6 deflections per game.

Emily Sutryk, junior, Sayre: A deadly 3-point shooter, Sutryk averaged 13.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.3 assists. She also knocked down 59 3-pointers, and had 2.7 deflections per game.

The remainder of the first team is: Tamara Hess, Canton; Makayal Vargeson, Cowanesque Valley; Aalyah Bevacqua, NEB; Joanna McNamara, NP-Mansfield.

Second Team
Gabbi Randall, sophomore, Sayre:
Randall, who is rounding into a good all-around player, averaged 4.2 points, 6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.2 deflections, and 1.9 steals per game.

The remainder of the second team is: Jamie Palmer and Liz Welch, NP-Mansfield; Kamren Short, Cowanesque Valley, Elle Binford, Canton, and Lauryn Jones, NEB.
