THE VALLEY "” A busy day of action on the diamonds today as Sayre and Athens play Waverly and Tioga in the "Wounded Warrior Baseball Classic," while Waverly softball hosts unbeaten Athens.

At 10 a.m., Waverly (3-2) hosts Athens (4-0), and Tioga (2-2) hosts Sayre (2-3).

Then at 12:30 p.m., Waverly hosts Sayre, while Athens hosts Tioga.

The Wildcats enter today's action coming off a 7-0 win over Troy Thursday, while Waverly topped O-M / Watkins Glen, 20-7, on Wednesday.

Tioga enters Saturday's game coming off an 8-0 win at Moravia Friday, while Sayre dropped an 18-1 decision to Loyalsock Thursday.

Athens (4-0) at Waverly (8-1), 10:30 a.m.: The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 7-0 win over Troy Thursday that featured a no-hitter by junior Megan Bennett, while the Lady Wolverines are coming off an 8-0 win over Dryden Friday that featured a perfect game by senior Wendi Hammond.

Hammond has not allowed an earned run, and has only yielded 12 hits in 39.2 innings this season. She has fanned 87 and walked just five.

Bennett has not allowed a run in 18 1/3 innings this season, and has yielded just four hits. She has struck out 33 and walked only two.
