NTL TRACK & FIELD: LADY REDSKINS WIN TWO DECISIONS IN QUAD-MEET, BOYS EARN ONE WIN (2019-04-17)

CANTON "” The Lady Redskins earned a pair of wins in a quad-meet here Tuesday afternoon, while the Sayre boys notched one win in NTL track & field action.

Senior Jennifer Shaffer paced the Lady Redskins' efforts, while sophomores Tavone McClenny, Zach Belles, and Bobby Benjamin were the Sayre boys' top performers.

GIRLS
Canton 89, Sayre 74, Meadowbrook Christian 66, NEB 18
Senior Jennifer Shaffer won a pair of events to lead Sayre to wins over Meadowbrook Christian and NEB, while Canton topped all three of its competitors.

Shaffer won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:45., while junior Kayla Hughey was third in 2:50.0 and senior Kayla Kittle was fourth in 2:53.

Shaffer, Hughey and Kittle teamed with sophomore Carrie Claypool to win the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 11:07.

Senior Anna Coller won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:10.9, while senior Mackenzie Wilkerson won the pole vault at 5-feet via fewer misses, and sophomore Sarah Vandermark was second at 5-feet.

Junior Julia Boyle won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.4 seconds, and sophomore Courtney Sindoni was second in 19.0 seconds. Boyle finished second in the 300-meter hurdles in 58.9seconds, and Sindoni was third in 59.8 seconds.

Hughey finished second in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 6:12, and senior Claire Shaffer was second in the 3,200-meter run in 14:51.

Kittle finished second in the shot put with a heave of 26-feet, 1-inch, and was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 64-feet 3-inches.

Sindoni finished third in the triple jump with an effort of 24-feet, and Wilkerson finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 31.5 seconds.

BOYS
Canton 96, NEB 55, Sayre 53, Meadowbrook Christian 48

Sophomores Tavone McClenny, Zach Belles, and Bobby Benjamin each had first- and second-place finish to help Sayre to a win over Meadowbrook Christian.

Sophomore Tavone McClenny won the long jump with a leap of 16-feet, 2 1/2 inches, and junior Zach Watkins was third at 14-feet, 8-inches.

McClenny finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 33-feet, 6 1/2-inches, and was third in the 400-meter dash in 57.4 seconds.

Sophomore Zach Belles won the shot put with a heave of 38-feet, 7 3/4-inches, and finished second in the discus with a toss of 91-feet, 2-inches

Sophomore Bobby Benjamin won the pole vault at 7-feet. Benjamin finished second in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 12:27, and sophomore Nathan Romano was fourth in 13:21.

Senior Luke Cowder was second in the pole vault with a throw of 114-feet, 3-inches.

Sophomore Cody Vanbenthuysen finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 21.4 seconds, and was fourth int he 300-meter hurdles in 55.8 seconds.
