SAYRE "” Williamson scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning to blow open a tie game en route to an 18-4 five-inning win over Sayre here Monday afternoon in NTL softball action at Riverfront Park.

Williamson, which entered the game at 0-7, scored single run-in the top of the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead.

Freshman Hailey McCaig grounded a one-out single into left field in the home half of the third inning to spark a Sayre rally.

Mccain stole second, and moved to third on a bunt single by junior Jillian Shay, who immediately stole third base. Both runners scored on a two-RBI double to right field by sophomore Sara Ciavardini.

The Lady Redskins kept the rally alive as Ciavardini stole third, and junior Emily Sutryk walked and stole second base. Sophomore Alyssa Murrelle then hit a line drive that the Williamson first baseman snared and flipped to third base for an inning-ending double play.

Williamson used five singles and four Sayre errors to plate seven runs in the two of he fourth inning to take a 9-2 lead.

The Lady Redskins answered with two runs in the home half of the inning on an RBI double by sophomore Kateri Starkweather, and an RBI single by Brelin VanDuzer to make it 9-4.

Williamson banged out seven hits and took advantage of four more Sayre errors to score nine runs in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 18-4.

McCaig and Shay each had two hits and scored one run to pac Sayre's nine-hit attack, while Ciavardini doubled and drove in two runs, and Starkweather doubled, scored one run, and knocked in one run.

Junior Madeleine Dutra singled and scored one run for Sayre, and VanDuzer and Murrelle each added one single.

Murrelle was tagged with the loss. She allowed three earned runs in five innings and struck out two with no walks.

Emilee Yusko was 5-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, four runs scored and two RBI to lead Williamson at the plate.

Sayre, now 0-7, hosts Cowanesque Valley Tuesday.
