SAYRE "” First Citizens Community Bank scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead, then held off a sixth-inning rally to edge Williams Toyota, 6-5, here Saturday in Opening Day action in the Minors Division at Sayre Little League.

Williams Toyota scored one run in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 3-3, but First Citizens answered with three runs in the home half of the inning - the go-ahead run coming on an inside-the-park home run by Jacob Gorsline.

Ty Owen led off the top of the sixth inning with an inside-the-park home run to trim the deficit to 6-4. Ethan Frey followed with a single, and eventually scored on a wild pitch to trim the lead to 6-5, but that's as close as Williams Toyota would get.

Gorsline homered and doubled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Jesse Porter singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in one run to account for First CItizen's four hits in the game, and Nolan Raupers scored two runs.

Porter earned the win for First Citizens, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out seven and walking five in four innings of work. Raupers closed out the game, allowing three runs on three hits, while striking out six and walking two in two innings of relief.

Owen homered and singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run to pace Williams Toyota's five-hit attack, while Charlie Salsman singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, Frye singled and scored one run, and Landon Jacobson added a single.  Michael Sutryk scored one run.

Blake Zingeser started for Williams, allowing three runs on two hits, while striking out nine and walking five in 3 1/3 innings. Declan Barry closed the game, allowing three runs on two hits, while striking out four and walking two in 1 2/3 innings of relief.
