BLOOMSBURG "” Athens topped Milton in the semifinals, before falling to the hosts here Saturday in non-league softball action at the Central Columbia Tournament.

Athens 5, Milton 0

Athens took an early lead, and Haley Barry had three RBI to lead Athens to a 5-0 win over Milton in th semifinals Saturday morning.

Junior Megan Bennett earned the win in the pitcher's circle for the Lady Wildcats. She allowed five hits in the shutout, with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Athens took a quick 2-0 lead in the home half of the second inning on RBI singles by senior Mimi Martin and Barry.

Bennett helped her own cause in the fourth inning with an RBI triple to make it 3-0.

Barry belted a two-run home run in the fifth inning to cap the scoring.

Barry had three hits, including a home run and a double, one run scored, and three RBI to pace Athens' 11-hit attack, while Bennett doubled and singled, and drove in one run, and sophomore Emma Repsher singled twice and scored two runs.

Senior Emma Adams stoked two singles and scored one run in the win, while Martin singled and drove in one run, and sophomore Harley Sullivan added a single.

Central Columbia 9, Athens 1
Senior Emma Adams slugged a lead-off home run, but Athens couldn't muster anymore offense in a 9-1 loss to Central Columbia in the championship game Saturday afternoon.

Central Columbia plated five runs in the bottom of the second inning to take control of the game, and added two more runs in the third inning.

Adams homered and singled, scored one run, and drove in one run for the Lady Wildcats, while junior Megan Bennett doubled, and sophomore Harley Sullivan, senior Mimi Martin, and sophomore Emma Repsher added singles.

Adams was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs inn two innings.

Athens, now 14-4, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Bloomsburg in the quarterfinals of the District 4, Class AAA playoffs.
