DISTRICT 4 BASEBALL: ATHENS OPENS CLASS AAA PLAYOFFS AT HOME; SAYRE OPENS IN CLASS AA SEMIFINALS (2019-05-19)

THE VALLEY "” Athens opens the Class AAA playoffs at home, while Sayre is at a neutral site in the Class AA semifinals in the upcoming District 4 baseball playoffs.

CLASS AAA
The fourth-seeded Wildcats will host fifth-seeded Loyalsock Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Class AAA quarterfinals.

The AAA playoffs begin Monday with eighth-seed Troy hosting ninth-seed Wellsboro. The winner will play top-seed Montoursville Wednesday in the other quarter-final game in the top-half of the bracket.

On the other side of the bracket, second-seed Mount Carmel hosts seventh-seed Towanda Wednesday, while third-seed Central Columbia hosts Hughesville.

The semifinals are set for May 24 at Central Columbia.

CLASS AA
Third-seed Sayre will square off with second-seed Bloomsburg Wednesday at Montgomery High School in the Class AA semifinals. Only three teams qualified for the postseason.

The winner will face top-seed South Williamsport at Bowman Field May 28 at 4 p.m.
