ATHENS "” Sayre scored five runs without the benefit of a hit in the top of the fourth inning to rally for a 6-3 win over Troy - avenging a loss in pool play - here Monday evening in the quarterfinals of the Gilbert-Brown 8U Baseball Tournament at the Athens Little League.

Troy scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Sayre answered in the home half of the second on an RBI single by Cohen Kraft - Sayre's only hit of the game - to tie the game at 1-1.

Troy rapped out three hits in the top of the third inning to plate a pair of runs to take a 3-1 lead.

Sayre took advantage of eight walks in the top of the fourth to plate five runs and take a 6-3 lead.

A pair of Troy runners reached via base on balls in the bottom of the fourth, but Sayre escaped the jam unscathed and the game was stopped due to the time limit.

Kraft singled for Sayre's only hit, while Brandon Northrup scored two runs, and Nolan Raupers, Elijah Ross, Steven Turner, and Caleb Gorsline each crossed the plate once.

Sayre will square off with Waverly, which beat Susquehanna Area, 12-2, Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals.

POOL PLAY
Sayre 13, Susquehanna Area 4

Sayre scored five runs in both the third and fourth innings to pull away for a 13-4 win over Susquehanna Area in its first game of pool play on June 17.

Trenton Lynch singled and scored two runs and Lucas Carpenter singled and scored one run to account for Sayre's two hits, while Brayden Northrup, Jacob Woodruff and Zach Hall each scored two runs, and Caleb Gorsline, Nolan Raupers, Steven Turner, Cohen Kraft each scored one run.

NEBall 13, Sayre 12
NEBall scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull out a 13-12 decision over Sayre in a back-and-forth contest Wednesday.

NEBall scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, but Sayre answered with two runs in the second inning to tie the game.

Sayre scored four runs in the top of the third inning, but NEBall responded with five runs in the home half to take a 7-6 lead.

Sayre scored five runs in the fourth inning to re-gain the lead at 11-7, but NEBall answered again with four runs to tie the contest at 11-11.

Sayre took the lead again with a run in the top of the fifth, but NEBall walked off with the win in the home half of the frame.

Nolan Raupers had two hits and scored two runs, and Jacob Woodruff singled and scored three runs to lead Sayre at the plate, while Elijah Ross singled and scored two runs, and Zach Hall added a single.

Cohen Kraft and Brayden Northrup each scored two runs for Sayre, and Caleb Gorsline and Steven Turner each crossed the plate once.

Troy 6, Sayre 5
Troy pushed a run across the plate in the top of the fourth inning to pull out a 6-5 win over Sayre in the final game of pool play Saturday.

Troy scored five runs in the top of the first inning, but Sayre answered with five runs in the home half of the second inning to tie the game.

Cohen Kraft and Nolan Raupers each singled to account for Sayre's two hits in the loss, while Steven Turner, Zach Hall, Jacob Gorsline, Brayden Northrup, and Trenton Lynch each scored one run.
