YOUTH BASEBALL: NICHOLS-TIOGA POUNDS OUT 10-4 WIN AT OWEGO LITTLE LEAGUE 12U TOURNAMENT (15 PHOTOS) (2019-07-08)

OWEGO - Nichols-Tioga (Luther) cranked out 15 hits, seven for extra bases, and James Luther struck out 11 batters in a 10-4 C Division victory over Vestal (Burdick) in bracket action at the Owego Little League 12U Tournament pool play Monday.

Brennan Sindoni belted a home run to highlight a six-run uprising in the bottom of the second inning. N-T sent 12 batters to the plate and came away with seven hits, including a triple by Taliah Speer, to build an 8-2 advantage. Andrew Earley, Zac Mumbulo, Jackson Bombard, Shea Bailey and Luther added singles.

Speer sandwiched another triple between base hits by Nick Slater and Bombard in the third as the locals went up, 10-2. 

Eli Barnes delivered the final extra-base hit, a triple in the fourth.

Bombard, Bailey and Garrett Godfrey got the momentum going in the first, each connecting for a double. Bombard and Bailey would score.

Every Nichols-Tioga player contributed at least one hit and seven of the 10 scored at least one run.

Luther went the distance on the mound, scattering seven hits and five walks. Vestal stranded five runners in scoring position with Luther ending the threats via the K.

Nichols-Tioga faces Owego (Beyer) at 7:45 p.m. Thursday on Beauter Field.
