WAVERLY - The regular season of the Waverly Summer Basketball League has come to an end with Watkins Glen posting the best record and earning the top seed in next week's varsity playoffs, and Athens posting a 9-0 record to earn the top seed in the JV ranks.

Athens finished off its unbeaten season with a 48-42 win over Waverly Thursday evening in a battle of unbeatens.

In the varsity playoffs on Wednesday, Watkins Glen will square off with eighth-seed Edison (3-8), while second-seed Waverly (9-2) takes on seventh-seed Troy (6-5) at 4 p.m. In the 5 p.m. games, third-seed Athens (9-2) tangles with sixth-seed S-VE (6-4), and fourth-seed Candor takes on fifth-seed Mansfield (8-3).

The winners play at 6 p.m. in the semifinals, and the championship game will be played at 7:15 p.m.

The JV playoffs will be held Thursday.
