YOUTH BASEBALL: NICHOLS-TIOGA RALLIES TO CAPTURE OWEGO LITTLE LEAGUE 12U TOURNAMENT TITLE (24 PHOTOS) (2019-07-15)

OWEGO - Nichols-Tioga (Luther) had to rally twice against the same team two days in a row to win the Owego Little League 12U Tournament.
On Saturday, they rallied from a run down to post a 6-3 victory. On Sunday, N-T fell behind by three runs before coming back to take the title in a 9-8 thriller.
Nichols-Tioga 6, U-E 3
Down 2-1, a three-run rally put N-T ahead in the winner's bracket semifinal. A Jackson Bombard single, Shea Bailey triple, Brennan Sindoni walk and Logan Bellis double plated the first three players.
N-T tacked on two more runs in the fifth. Andrew Earley singled and scored, and Bombard walked and scored while Sindoni smacked a triple.
Bombard scored Nichols-Tioga's initial run following a base on balls in the first.
U-E rode a double and a walk to a 2-1 edge in the second. They would pick up their final run following a pair of singles in the sixth.
Bombard, Bailey, Sindoni, Bellis, Garrett Godfrey and Earley had one hit apiece for N-T.
Nichols-Tioga 9, U-E 8
N-T scored seven runs in the final three innings to overcome a 5-2 deficit.
James Luther started off the sixth inning with a double and Eli Barnes followed with a walk. Earley would single with two away and ended up scoring the decisive run on Bombard's hit.
Just an inning before, Brennan Sindoni cleared the 200-foot center field fence for a solo home run that tied the game at six.
U-E tagged N-T for four first-inning runs, but Jackson and Bombard walked and scored to cut the lead to 4-2.
U-E would extend its advantage 5-2 in the second and 6-2 in the fourth.
Bellis walked, Bailey doubled, Godfrey singled and Luther doubled in the fourth as Nichols-Tioga trimmed the lead to 6-5.
After Sindoni's dinger knotted the score, U-E would score twice to take an 8-6 lead into the bottom of the fourth.
Bailey and Luther had two hits apiece for N-T. Bombard, Sindoni, Godfrey, Barnes, Taliah Speer and Earley added one hit each.
Nichols-Tioga finished the tournament with a 6-0-1 record.
