YOUTH BASKETBALL: FIVE ATHENS WILDCAT YOUTH TRAVEL TEAMS WIN SEASON-ENDING NTL TOURNAMENTCOM (2024-03-25)

ATHENS — The Athens Wildcats Youth Basketball Association (AWYBA) travel basketball teams completed their seasons over the last two weekends with the annual NTL Youth Basketball King of the Court Championship (March 9 at Towanda) and NTL Youth Basketball Queen of the Court Championship (March 16-17 at Athens).

The AWYBA had seven teams compete over six divisions, securing the championship in five of the six divisions, as well as a second- and third-place finish. The teams that competed, finished the tournaments will an overall record of 22-2, and completed the season with a program record 128-19.

The individual team results were as follows:

•  AWYBA 3rd grade boys: 3rd place finish with a 12-7 overall season record (2-1 tournament record)

ROSTER:  Calvin Mosher, Keegan Barrett, Silas Wayman, Giovanni Sharpe, Wyatt Raupers, Colton Eccker, Klase Bardo, and Paxton Campbell. COACHES: Matt Wayman, and Ryan Bardo.

•  AWYBA 4th grade boys: 1st place finish with a 20-1 overall season record (4-0 tournament record)

ROSTER:  Chase Faucett, Andrew Coleman, Grant Campbell, Connor Robinson, Easton Hubbard, Austin Briggs, Landon Briggs, and Nate Wagner. COACHES: Tom Briggs, Jim Briggs, and Eric Hubbard.

•  AWYBA 5th grade boys: 1st place finish with a 21-1 overall season record (3-0 tournament record)

ROSTER: Connor Cole, Kolbe Cole, Brayden Thornton, Ace Johnston, Bentley Thomas-Warfle, Grant Robinson, Branson Myers, Jacob Keene, Eli Leavenworth, Ethan Glielmi, Rowan Morales, and Casyn Rowe. COACHES: Kyle Coe, Gary Raupers, and Tucker Brown.

•  AWYBA 6th grade boys: 1st place finish with a 21-3 overall season record (4-0 tournament record)

ROSTER: Graham Campbell, Ian Johnston, Ryder Owens, Evan Westerfield, Ryan Hicks, Parker Yale, Cameron Johnson, Cooper Bailey, George Hutz, and Elliott Chilson. COACHES: Greg Johnston, Katie Johnston, and Kendra Lundy.

•  AWYBA 3rd & 4th grade girls: 1st place finish with a 22-0 overall season record (4-0 tournament record)

ROSTER: Penelope Medical, Hensley Gabriel, Rachel Dean, Hadley Liechty, Zavery Holbert, Kennedy Campbell, Ava Rhodes, Emma Pelchy, Saraya Anthony, Scarlett Eccker, Lindsay Ahern, and Adriann Jackson. COACHES: Haley Campbell, Maryellen Rhodes, and Kelley Gabriel.

•  AWYBA 5th & 6th grade girls “B”: 1st place finish with a 20-0 overall season record (3-0 tournament record)

ROSTER:  Molly McGrath, Harper Liechty, Allie Lyon, Adrianna Wayman, Bryn Bishop, Payton Babcock, Azlan Holbert, and Ariana Nelsen. COACHES: Kevin Dougherty, Brady Liechty, and Rob Glielmi.

•  AWYBA 5th & 6th grade girls “A”: 2nd place finish with a 12-7 overall season record (2-1 tournament record)

ROSTER: Addison Glielmi, Ashlynn Trivelpiece, Allie Lyon, Ivy Brown, Auriana Welch, Azlan Holbert, Peyton Williams, Alayna Lackey, Ariana Nelsen, and Arabella Robbins. COACHES: Kevin Dougherty, Brady Liechty, and Rob Glielmi.
