COLLEGE BASEBALL: SAYRE GRAD HORTON CONTINUES HOT STREAK IN LIBERTY'S SWEEP OF SAM HOUSTON (2024-04-03)

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Sayre grad Brayden Horton, a sophomore on the Liberty baseball team, rapped out five hits, including his fifth home run of the season, to help the Flames to a three-game sweep of Sam Houston over the weekend.

Prior to the weekend series, Liberty dropped a 7-6 decision to Wake Forest, ranked 12th in the country. Horton was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Last Thursday, Horton was 1-for-4 in Liberty’s 6-4 win over Sam Houston.

On Friday, Horton was 2-for-3 with one run scored, and one RBI in a 10-5 win.

On Saturday, Horton was  2-for-3, including a solo home run, with two runs scored and one RBI in a 9-3 win over Sam Houston.

On Tuesday, Horton doubled and scored one run in a 9-4 loss to No. 9 Duke.

On the season, Horton is hitting .281 (16 hits in 57 ABs) with 14 runs scored, one double, one triple, five home runs, and 17 RBI. He also has one stolen base.

Liberty, now 13-15, travels to New Mexico State this weekend for a three-game series.
