Valley Sports ReportROCHESTER — The stat line for Athens grad
Lucas Horton’s collegiate debut isn’t that impressive, but the fact he made his first pitching appearance as a freshman at St. John Fisher just six months after reconstructive knee surgery is.
Horton had surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus on Oct. 10. He suffered the injury during football practice.
Horton entered Tuesday’s game in the fourth inning, with the Cardinals trailing 9-3. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out two and walking one.
St. John Fisher, now 10-14 overall, but 7-1 in Empire 8 play, returns to action Saturday in a doubleheader at Keuka College.
