COLLEGE SOFTBALL: ATHENS GRAD BENNETT EARNS CAREER-HIGH NINTH WIN AT ALFRED UNIVERSITY (2024-04-11)

Megan Bennett, a senior on the Alfred University softball team, has earned three wins this week, including a three-hit shutout at Ithaca College, and now has a career-high nine wins for the Saxons.
Bennett, who has won eight of her last nine starts, received plenty of run support Sunday in Alfred’s 14-5 win over Nazareth. Bennett allowed five earned runs on eight hits, while striking out six and walking two in four innings of work.
Bennett bounced back Tuesday with a stellar start in an 11-0 win at Ithaca College. She allowed three hits, while striking out two and walking none in six shutout inning.
On Wednesday, Bennett allowed two runs on eight hits in a complete-game seven-inning effort in a 5-2 win over Penn State-Behrend. She fanned six and walked none.
On the season, Bennett is 9-3 with a 2.19 ERA. She has allowed 71 hits in 70 1/3 inning, while striking out 63, and walking just eight.
For her career, Bennett is 31-19 with 10 saves, and a 2.72 ERA. She has 299 career strikeouts in 300 2/3 innings, and has issues just 60 walks.
Alfred, now 12-10, travels to Keuka College Friday for a doubleheader.
