NTL BASEBALL: FAIRPORT ROLLS TO 22-2 WIN OVER ATHENS (2024-04-27)

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Fairport scored early and often, and cruised to a 22-2 win over Athens here Saturday afternoon in non-league baseball action.

The Red Raiders scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning, and plated six more in the second to extend their lead to 15-0.

The Wildcats got on the board in the third inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by sophomore Nick Grazul and senior Nicholas Jacob.

Fairport tacked on a run in the home half of the fourth, then pushed six more across the plate in the sixth inning to provide the final margin.

Grazul doubled and singled, scored one run, and drove in one run to pace Athens’ six-hit attack, while Jacob doubled and knocked in one run, freshman Connor Davidson singled and scored one run, and junior Troy Rosenbloom, and freshman Brenden Cooke each added one hit.

Athens, now 5-8, returns to action Tuesday at Wyalusing.
