ALBRECHT HITS STATE STANDARD IN POLE VAULT

ITHACA — Sophomore Gavin Albrecht and senior Valentino Rossi notched Tioga’s only individual wins of the day, and the Tigers also won a relay to finish seventh here Friday at the Dan Fravil Memorial Ithaca Relays, while 8th-grader Vida Rossi had three top-four finishes to pace the Tioga girls.

Auburn won the boys team title with 71 points, while Ithaca was second with 58, and Lansing was third with 52. Tioga tallied 26.5 points.

Albrecht won the pole vault, clearing the bar at a school record 13-feet, 6-inches, which meets the automatic qualifying height for the New York State Championships. Albrecht teamed with junior Ryan Chamberlain, who cleared 8-feet, to finish third in the pole vault relay at 21-feet, 6-inches, which is a new school record.

Valentino Rossi won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-feet, 10-inches — just two inches off the school record.

Valentino Rossi also finished third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.66 seconds, and Albrecht was fifth in 12.07 seconds.

Chamberlain, juniors Andrew Earley, and Jonah Lamb, and sophomore James Miller teamed to win the 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay.

Early finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.03 seconds, and Chamberlain was 11th in 19.27 seconds.

Earley and Miller teamed with juniors Kameron Joyce and Trevor Wheeler to finish sixth in the sprint medley relay.

Sophomore Talon Wood finished ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:25.48

GIRLS
Tioga placed 12th in the 14-team field with 13 points. West Canada Valley won the team title with 59.5 points, while Lansing was second with 54.5, and Rome Free Academy was third with 42.5 points.

Vida Rossi finished third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.24 seconds, while sophomore Ava Smolinsky was ninth in 13.93 seconds, and 7th-grader Grace Howey was 10th at 14.17 seconds.

Rossi also placed third in the long jump with a leap of 16-feet, 7-inches, and Smolinsky was sixth at 15-feet, 2-inches. Rossi and Smolinsky teamed to finish third in the long jump relay at 31-feet, 9 1/2-inches, which breaks the school record.

Freshman Sadie Marshall placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.53 seconds.

Rossi, Marshall, Smolinsky, and Howey teamed to finish fourth in the 800-meter relay in a time of 1:58.72. The same foursome finished fourth in the 400-meter relay in a time of 54.61 seconds

Senior Allie Creller placed sixth in the discus at 74-feet, 1-inch.

Tioga returns to action Monday at Groton.
