Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — The STAC Central Division baseball title is on the line this week when Waverly and Owego clash in a three-game series, beginning this afternoon at Owego. In the only action in the Valley, Tioga baseball and softball hosts Newark Valley, and Waverly tennis and boys golf are at home.

BASEBALL
Waverly (12-1 overall, 11-0 STAC Central) at Owego (11-1, 11-1), 4:30 p.m.:
The Wolverines have been off since a 16-4 win over Susquehanna Valley, while the River Hawks topped Chenango Forks, 6-3, Friday.

Waverly’s home game against Oneonta on Friday was postponed due to the Yellowjackets bringing only their metal cleats, which are not allowed on the new turf field.

Newark Valley (6-4) at Tioga (7-3), 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off an 8-7 loss at Trumansburg Friday, while the Cardinals dropped an 8-5 decision to Newfield, snapping their three-game win streak.

Tioga has lost three in a row by a total of four runs, including back-to-back one-run losses to Moravia and Trumansburg.

SOFTBALL
Waverly (6-5, 5-2) at Owego (5-4, 4-4), 4:30 p.m.: The Wolverines split a pair of games at the Johnson City Testa Tournament, topping JC, 11-7, in the opener, but dropping a 12-3 decision to Pittsford-Sutherland in the nightcap. The River Hawks are coming off a 4-0 win over Binghamton Friday.

Newark Valley (5-3) at Tioga (7-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers split a pair of games at the Windsor Testa Tournament Saturday, falling 16-2 to Batavia, and beating Windsor, 5-4, while the Cardinals have been off since Monday when it dropped a 19-18 slugfest at Marathon.

FLAG FOOTBALL
Waverly (5-0-2) at U-E, 5 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off a 47-14 win over Johnson City, while the Tigers topped Chenango Valley, 34-0.

Earlier this season, U-E edged JC, 13-12, while Waverly rolled over CV, 60-18.
