COLLEGE BASEBALL: ATHENS GRAD HORTON EARNS FIRST COLLEGIATE WIN AT ST. JOHN FISHER (2024-04-29)

Valley Sports Report
ONEONTA — Athens grad Lucas Horton, a freshman on the St. John Fisher baseball team, had his best outing of the season, and earned his first collegiate victory Saturday in the Cardinals’ 6-1 win over Oneonta in the nightcap of a twinbill.

Horton, who had surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus on Oct. 10, had been limited to just three innings this season.

On Saturday, Horton tossed three no-hit innings of relief, with four strikeouts. He faced the minimum nine batters, and threw just 37 pitches.

Horton entered the game in the bottom of the fourth with the Cardinals leading 4-1, and was perfect through the sixth.

In four appearances this season, Horton is 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA. He has eight strikeouts and two walks in 6 1/3 innings.

St. John Fisher, now 19-17 overall and 12-3 in conference play, returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Brockport.
