ELMIRA HEIGHTS ó Waverly jumped out to a big lead early and rolled to a 22-1 win over Elmira Heights here Monday evening in consolation bracket action in the District 6 Little League Minors Division baseball action.
Waverly took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with Andrew Larrabee, Bryce LaForrest, Ben Shaw, and Hogan Shaw delivering singles in the rally.
After Elmira Heights scored its lone run in the top of the second, Waverly answered with six runs in the home half of the inning.
Waverly put the game away with 12 runs in the third inning.
Hogan Shaw stroked three singles and scored one run, and Shea Bailey had two his and scored four runs to lead Waverly at the plate, while Ben Shaw singled twice and scored three runs, and LaForrest singled and scored four runs.
Larrabee, Jerry Carnrike, Cohen Hugo, Tristan Campbell, and Peyton Robinson each singled and scored two runs in the win, and Nathan Kellogg and Carter Davies each scored a run.
Waverly receives a forfeit from Hornell Wednesday, and will return to action against the loser of the winnerís bracket contest between Big Flats and Corning Saturday at 11 a.m.
