DISTRICT 4 GIRLS BASKETBALL: SAYRE OPENS CLASS AA PLAYOFFS AT HOME TUESDAY; ATHENS ON ROAD THURSDAY IN CLASS AAAA OPENER (2019-02-17)

THE VALLEY - Sayre is the second seed and will open at home Tuesday in the District 4, Class AA girls basketball playoffs, while Athens is the fifth seed in Class AAAA playoffs and will open on the road Thursday.

CLASS AA
The Lady Redskins will host seventh-seed Canton Tuesday at 7 p.m. The winner will square off against the winner of the quarter-final match-up between third-seeded South Williamsport and sixth-seed Muncy.

On the other side of the bracket, top-seed Southern Columbia hosts eighth-seeded Montgomery in the quarterfinals, and fourth-seed Mount Carmel hosts fifth-seed North Penn-Mansfield.

The top three teams will advance to the PIAA, Class AA playoffs.

CLASS AAAA

The Lady Wildcats (13-9) will travel to fourth-seeded Jersey Shore (11-11) Thursday for a 7 p.m. start. The winner will face top-seeded Danville (20-2) at a time, date and site to be determined.

On the other side of the bracket, second-seed Mifflinburg (18-4) hosts seventh-seed Milton (8-14), while third-seed Shamokin (15-7) hosts sixth-seed Montoursville (8-14).

The top three teams in Class AAAA advance to the PIAA playoffs.
