MANSFIELD "” Paced by multiple-place finishers  senior Dylan Ward, junior Isaac Chandler, and sophomore Collin Wright, Waverly finished second here Friday at the Molly Dry Track & Field Invitational at Mansfield University, while Athens finished fourth.

Horseheads won the team title with 106 points, while Waverly tallied 91 points, third-place Coudersport had 68 points, Athens collected 52 points, and fifth-place South Williamsport had 47 points. Sayre finished 14th in the 22-team field with 18 points.

Ward won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-feet, 10-inches, while Athens sophomore Zach Trasco was tied for fifth at 5-feet, 4-inches. Sayre sophomore Connor Young and Athens sophomore James Benninger-Jones tied for 11th at 5-feet, 2-inches.

Chandler won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.64 seconds, and Sayre senior Nate Garrity was eighth in 18.01 seconds. Benninger-Jones was 14th in 20.19 seconds.

Collin Wright won the 2,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 6:39.0, while Athens freshman Kyle Anthony was seventh in 7:35.18, and Athens freshman Matt Gorsline was 13th in 8:05.82.

Athens junior Damian Hudson won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.47 seconds, and Waverly sophomore Caden Wheeler was 14th in 12.48 seconds.

Athens sophomore Benny Gambrell won the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 11-inches, and Chandler was third at 19-feet, 10 1/2-inches.

The Waverly foursome of Chandler, Wheeler, sophomore David Hallett, and 7th-grader Ralph Johnson finished second in the 400-meter relay in a time of 47.51 seconds.

The Waverly quartet of sophomore Austin Kimble, senior Trent Wright, freshman Sam VanDyke, and Ward finished second in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:43.46, and the Athens foursome of Hudson, junior Ben Biles, freshman Brendan Jones, and Trasco finished sixth in 4:07.43.

Garrity finished second in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 47.98 seconds, while Ben Biles was third in 49.04 seconds, Young was sixth in 49.92 seconds, and Waverly junior Nick Janzen was eighth in 50.86 seconds. Athens sophomore Carter Jones was 10h in 56.24 seconds.

Collin Wright finished second in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 10:22.02, while Sayre sophomore Bobby Benjamin was 10th in 12:13.71, Sayre sophomore Nathan Romano was 12th in 12:29.26, and Waverly 7th-grader Liam Wright was 13th in 12:31.85.

Sam VanDyke finished third in the 400-meter dash in a time of 55.22 seconds, while Hudson was fourth in 55.65 seconds, and Sayre sophomore Tavone McClenny was fifth in 55.89 seconds. Kimble finished ninth in a time of 57.68 seconds, and Trasco was 10th in 58.25 seconds.

The Waverly foursome of Ward, junior Brandon Bubniak, and sophomores Nate Ackley and Jayden Rose finished fifth in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 8:44.0.

Athens junior T.J. Toscano was sixth in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:57.31, while Rose was ninth in 5:01.46, and Ackley was 11th in 5:03.99.

Sayre junior Corbin Brown finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 34-feet, 11-inches, and McClenny was 15th at 32-feet, 6 1/2-inches.

Athens sophomore Asher Ellis finished eighth in the discus with a toss of 119-feet, 4-inches, and Sayre senior Joey Stermer was 15th at 104-feet, 3-inches. Ellis finished 10th in the javelin with a throw of 124-feet, 10 3/4-inches, and Sayre senior Luke Cowder was 15th at 121-feet, 6-inches.

Sayre sophomore Zach Belles was 13th in the shot put with a heave of 37-feet.
