KIRKWOOD — The Waverly boys opened the season with a 5-0 sweep of Susquehanna Valley, while the girls edged SV, 3-2, here Monday afternoon in STAC Central Division bowling action at Sunset Lanes.

BOYS
Waverly 5, SV 0

Three different Wolverines rolled 600 series in their first-ever STAC match.

Waverly won the first game 1,090-881, and followed it up with wins of 1,055-891, and 1,005-922 for a total-pinfall count of 3,150 to 2,694.

Sophomore Tristan Campbell led the Wolverines with a 698 series on games of 257, 207, and 234, while junior Dominick Wood shot a 668 on games of 267, 192, and 209, and senior Trenton Sindoni had a 623 on games of 211, 211, and 201.

Sophomore Derek Johnson rolled a 598 series, including a 248, for Waverly, while senior Carter Hayes shot a 563. Seventh-grader Colten Santalucia shot a 538 in reserves for the Wolverines.

John Bonsell led SV with a 701 series, including a 299 in the final game.

GIRLS
Waverly 3, SV 2

Junior Serenity Conklin and 8th-grader Karis Hayes led Waverly to a 3-2 win, thanks to a two-pin advantage in total pinfall, which is good for two points in the STAC.

SV won the first two games by scores of 710-679 and 803-775, but Waverly salvaged the third game 742-681 to win the total-pinfall count 2,196 to 2,194.

Conklin led the Wolverines with a 568 series, including games of 205 and 210, while Hayes shot a 498, including a game-high 178 in the decisive third game.

Seventh-grader Ariel Houseknecht shot a 403 for Waverly, while freshman Emily Houseknecht had a 389, and 8th-grader Rylie Witman tacked on a 343.

Allycyn Basha led SV with a 570 series.

Waverly returns to action Monday against Owego at the Owego Bowl.
