STAC BOYS BOWLING: WAVERLY BOYS SWEPT BY OWEGO; GIRLS FALL, 4-1 (2024-02-02)

WAVERLY — All five Owego bowlers rolled 636 or better, led by Connor Kossi, who topped 700, to offset four 600 series by Waverly in a 5-0 sweep here Friday afternoon, while the Owego girls pulled out a 4-1 win in STAC bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.

BOYS
Owego 5, Waverly 0
Senior Dominick Wood rolled a 698 seres on games of 289, 192, and 217, and three of his teammates rolls 600 series, but it wasn’t enough as Owego posted a 5-0 sweep.

Sophomore Tristan Campbell added a 643 series on games of 232, 233, and 178 for the Wolverines, while sophomore Derek Johnson shot a 630 on games of 181. 208, and 241, and senior Trenton Sindoni had a 603 series on games of 235, 188, and 180.

Senior Carter Hayes tacked on a 579, including a 209 in the first game, for Waverly.

Owego won the first game 1,197-1,147, and followed it up with wins of 1,124-1,002, and 1,046-1,005 for a total-pinfall victory of 3,367 to 3,153.

Kossi rolled a 709 series on games of 246, 259, and 204, while Devan Card fired a 693 on games of 279, 211, and 203, and Evan O’Hara shot a 684 on games of 232, 227, and 225.

Will Waldron had a 645 series on games of 237, 191, and 217 for the River Hawks, and Gayden Stanton added a 636 on games of 203, 236, and 197.

GIRLS
Owego 4, Waverly 1
Haley Stephens banged out a 606 series on games of 193, 221, and 192 to lead the River Hawks to a 4-1 win.

Ariel Houseknecht led Waverly with a 511 series, while Karis Hayes shot a 509, and Rylie Witman added a 417.

Owego won the first game 732-687 and the second game 783-675. Waverly salvaged the third game by a score of 770-714, but the River Hawks won the total-pinfall point by a count of 2,234, 2,131.
