Wendi Hammond tossed a complete-game shutout to lead Albany to a 2-0 win over Niagara here in the first game of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County Invite.
Hammond scattered five hits over seven innings, while striking out three, and walking none. She threw just 79 pitches.
On the season, Hammond is 7-4 with a 3.08 ERA. She has 29 strikeouts and 24 base on balls in 52 1/3 innings.
Albany, now 8-5, will face Wisconsin, and Niagara Saturday afternoon.
