ATHENS G.R.I.P POWERLIFTING TEAM FINISHES THIRD AT 'POWER DAY;' AND THIRD AT STATE TEENAGE POWERLIFTING CHAMPIONSHP (2024-03-17)

BLOOMSBURG — The Athens G.R.I.P. Powerlifting team took third at the ‘Power Day’ bench press and deadlift championships at CMVT.

The team features athletes from around the area, with Steve Berger getting two first places (bench press and dead lift), with Treyvon Simpson and Lorelei Golden both getting firsts in dead lift.

Tanner Dorman, Keegan Freeman, and Simon Beeman each got a pair of seconds in deadlift and bench press, with Hannah Berger taking second in deadlift.

Hannah Berger, Shawn Labar, and Lorelei Golden each took home bonze in bench press.

The next competition will be the PSCPA Championships on May 5th.

Earlier this month, at the 2024 PSCPA PA State Teenage Powerlifting Championship in Allentown; the ATHENS G.R.I.P. Powerlifting Club made history.

Three hundred athletes — 228 boys, and 72 girls — representing 19 school districts from across the state participated, and Athens more than held its own.

Team members Individually competed against other lifters in their respective age and weight class divisions.

Athens finished third in the team standings — the first team award in program history.

- Hannah Berger - SQ 215, BP 100, DL 275 - 3rd Place
- Tanner Dorman - SQ 110, BP 125, DL 225 - 2nd Place
- Treyvon Simpson - SQ 385, BP 210, DL 425 - 6th place
- Simon Beeman - SQ 365, BP 255, DL 405 - 5th place
- David Huang - SQ 455, BP 335, DL 450 - 3rd Place
