THE VALLEY — Sophomore Derek Johnson was Waverly’s top bowler throughout the season, and a key component in the Wolverines’ second-place finish at the New York State Division 2 Boys Bowling Championships. He is the 2023-24 Valley Sports Report Bowler of the Year.”

Waverly junior Serenity Conklin is the 2023-24 “Girls Bowler of the Year.

(Because there are just two bowling programs — Waverly and Tioga — in the Valley, this is a co-ed team.)

Johnson was second in the STAC this season with a 226 average, which included a high series of 781, and a high game of 296.

He led Waverly at the State Qualifier with a nine-game set of 2,063 (229.2), and was third on the team at States with a six-game set of 1,213 (202.1).

Conklin was ninth in the STAC with a 177 average, which included a high series of 587, and a high game of 213.

She finished 11th at the State Qualifier with a nine-game set of 1,682 (186.8).

Tristan Campbell, sophomore, Waverly: Campbell was ninth in the STAC with a 212 average, which included a high series of 746 and a high game of 258.

He was second for the Wolverines at the State Qualifier with a nine-game set of 1,986 (220.7), and was second on the team at States with a six-game set of 1,229 (204.8).

Trenton Sindoni, senior, Waverly: Sindoni was 15th in the STAC with a 207 average, which included a 718 high series, and a 265 high game.

He shot a nine-game set of 1,818 (202.0) at the state qualifier, and led the Wolverines at States with a six-game set of 1,311 (218.5).

Dominick Wood, senior, Waverly: Wood was 17th in the STAC with a 206 average, and had a high series of 707 and a high game of 289

He was third for the Wolverines at the State Qualifier with a nine-game set of 1,902 (211.3), and had a six-game set of 1,181 (196.8) at States.

Carter Hayes, senior, Waverly: Hayes was 24th in the STAC with a 200 average, and had a high series of 663, and a high game of 245.

He shot a nine-game set of 1,829 (203.2) at the state qualifier, and a six-game set of 1,096 (182.7) at States.

Nick Slater, sophomore, Tioga: Slater was third in the IAC with a 193 average, and had a 721 high series, and 267 high game.

He shot a nine-game set of 1,782 (198.0) at the State Qualifier.

Karis Hayes, 8th-grader, Waverly: Hayes was 18th in the STAC with a 173 average. She had a high series of 571 and a high game of 231.

She finished eighth at the state qualifier with a nine-game set of 1,711 (190.1).
