IAC TRACK & FIELD: MARSHALL, EARLEY LEAD TIOGA TO FOURTH PLACE AT ITS OWN 'TWISTED TRACK MEET' (24 PHOTOS) (2024-04-20)

TIOGA CENTER — Freshman Sadie Marshall, and junior Andrew Earley were double-winners to lead Tioga to a fourth-place finish at its own “Twisted Track & Field Meet” here Friday afternoon at Haggerty Field.

Newfield won the team title with 119 points, while O-M was second with 103, S-VE was third with 93 points, and Tioga tallied 90 points. Edison placed fifth with 88 points, while Watkins Glen and Marathon tied for sixth with 50 points.

The meet features the normal track & field events (plus an 800-meter relay), but the relays consist of two boys and two girls, and each individual events combines the times / distances / heights of a boy and a girl.

Marshall (18.47 seconds) and Earley (17.36) combined to win the 100-meter / 110-meter hurdles in a time of 35.83 seconds, and junior Ryan Chamberlain (19.71 seconds) and sophomore Emily Zwierlein (21.35) were fourth in 41.06 seconds.

Marshall (1:16.09) and Earley (1:03.0) also won the 400-meter hurdles in a combined time of 2:19.09.

Eighth-grader Vida Rossi (15-feet, 6 1/2-inches), and sophomore Brady Landmesser (17-feet, 1/2-inch) won the long jump with a combined distance of 32-feet, 7-inches, and sophomores Ava Smolinsky (13-feet, 11-inches) and Gavin Albrecht (16-feet, 3-inches) placed third at 28-feet, 2-inches.

Senior Emma Jaye (4-feet, 4-inches) and Valentino Rossi (5-feet, 8-inches) won the high jump with a combined height of 10-feet, and Zwierlein (4-feet, 2-inches) and Earley (5-feet) were fifth at 9-feet, 2-inches.

Valentino Rossi (11.94 seconds) and Vida Rossi (14.16) teamed to finish third in the 100-meter dash in 26.10 seconds, and  Albrecht (12.42) and Smolinsky (14.5) were fourth in 26.92 seconds.

Vida Rossi (29.26 seconds), and junior Kameron Joyce (25.82) combined to place third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 55.08 seconds, and Smolinsky (30.15 seconds), and junior Trevor Wheeler (26.16) finished fifth in a combined time of 56.31 seconds.

Jaye (5-feet) and Albrecht (12-feet, 6-inches) finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 17-feeet, 6-inches.

Senior Allie Creller (72-feet, 5-inches) and sophomore James Miller (84-feet) placed third in the discus with a combined mark of 156-feet, 5-inches.

Valentino Rossi, Vida Rossi, Smolinsky, and Albrecht teamed to finished fourth in the 400-meter relay in a time of 50.67 seconds.

Creller and junior Austin Babcock (35-feet, 1 3/4-inches) finished fifth in the shot put with a combined mark of

Zwierlein (27-feet, 1-inch) and Landmesser (33-feet) placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 60-feet, 1-inch.

Tioga returns to action Friday at the Ithaca Relays.
