Valley Sports Report
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — After a red-hot streak at the plate that culminated with an 11-game hitting streak, Sayre grad Brayden Horton hit a bit of a slump, but with home runs in his last two games, it appears he’s back on track.

Horton finished off his hit streak with a 2-for-4 performance with a double and three RBI in a 13-3 loss  to No. 16 Virginia Tech, and a 2-for-5 outing with four RBI in a 7-2 win over Jacksonville State.

In his next five games, Horton was 1-for-19 with a double, one RBI, and two runs scored.

On Sunday, Horton was 1-for-5 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI in a 5-4 loss to Western Kentucky.

He followed that up Tuesday with two hits in four at-bats, including a two-run home run, in a 14-4 loss to No. 14 Virginia.

On the season, Horton is hitting .300 (30 hits in 100 ABs) with four doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 31 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 1 steal.

Liberty, now 17-23 and riding a five-game losing skein, returns to action Friday for a three-game series at Samford in Birmingham, Ala.
